Video of Western Kentucky University celebrating a victory in the Miami Beach Bowl over South Florida on Monday

MIAMI - Here's some video from WKU Insider as Western Kentucky celebrates a 45-35 victory over South Florida on Monday in the Miami Beach Bowl at Marlins Park. The Toppers finish the season at 12-2.

It wasn't a great first quarter for Brandon Doughty, who completed just 9 of 17 passes. But the rest of the game the Western Kentucky sixth-year quarterback was spot on.

And he led the Toppers to a major victory.

Doughty threw for 461 yards and three touchdown passes in the third quarter as the Toppers rallied from a 14-0 deficit to tag South Florida 45-35 in the Miami Beach Bowl before 21,712 fans at Marlins Park.

Doughty, who finished his season with over 5,000 passig yards, threw touchdown passes of 69, 55 and 26 yards in the third quarter as the Toppers built a 38-21 lead and then had to hold on.

Ace Wales ran for 105 yards and sealed it with a 42-yard TD scamper with 5:09 left in the game.

The win caps off a historic season for Western Kentucky (12-2), which is in just its eighth season at the FBS level and won the Conference-USA title and now a second straight bowl victory.
