The Bluegrass State has its share of talent in the 2017 class, with Glasgow linebacker Steven Franklin among a growing group that is drawing significant interest from programs throughout the region and beyond.
An All-State selection following a junior season that saw him record 54 tackles for a team that reached the second round of the Kentucky 2A state playoffs last fall. As he preps for his senior season, Franklin is also thinking of his future and working his way through the recruiting process.
"I'm really enjoying it," he said. "Just a dream coming to reality."
The 6-foot-1, 210-pound Franklin already has a number of options to choose from with more certain to come.
"I have five offers so far and I'm trying to pull in more," he said. "I've got visits and camps still to go through."
Illinois State, Youngstown State, Toledo, Northwestern and Washington State have extended an scholarship offers, with a number of others, including Rutgers, South Carolina, Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Louisville, and Western Kentucky, expressing increased interest.
He's already made a number of unofficial visits, checking out nearby programs and has plans to make a few more during the coming weeks.
"I visited WKU a couple of weeks ago and I really like the family feeling," he said. "I'm going to visit Vandy on the 19th and go back to Louisville for the spring game."
