In an effort to further bolster its tight end depth, WKU has picked up a commitment from graduate transfer Steve Donatell on Thursday afternoon.
The 6-foot-6, 230-pound Donatell comes to The Hill following four years at Wake Forest, where his career began as a linebacker before transitioning to tight end during last spring practice.
After spending the 2012 season as a redshirt, Donatell started the 2013 season at outside linebacker before being forced to the sideline with a knee injury for the remainder of the season. He appeared in all 12 games during the 2014, primarily in a reserve role. In 2015, in totaled three receptions for 31 yards, while appearing in all 12 games.
The son of long-time NFL assistant Ed Donatell, who is currently tutoring the Chicago Bears secondary, the newest Hilltopper has plenty of football knowledge and experience playing numerous positions. During his prep career at Highlands Ranch (Colo.) High School, Donatell was a dangerous dual-threat quarterback and an Al-State punter.
