Jeffersonville, Ind., quarterback Cam Northern recently made the trip south on I-65 to Bowling Green to make a Junior Day visit with the WKU football program.
"I was impressed," said Northern. "Really liked the set up of how close classes and studying and football were. Very convenient."
It was the first trip to The Hill for the 6-foot-3, 215-pound prospect, who also spent time touring the program's facilities and visited with members of the WKU coaching staff. He also learned that members of the staff would be be making the trip to southern Indiana to watch him throw during the evaluation period.
"No serious talk about an offer," he said. "They said they'd like to see me throw in person a couple times before that comes."
That time has come.
WKU visited Jeffersonville last week and head coach Jeff Brohm will be making a stop to watch Northern throw at his school this week. Ohio, Indiana, Purdue and Ball State also visited last week. Ball State anticipates returning this week, also to watch him throw.
He's also made visits to Cincinnati, Miami of Ohio and Marshall.
As a junior, Northern, also a standout on the diamond, threw for nearly 2,000 yards and 22 touchdowns for the Red Devils, garnering All-Area and All-State accolades.
