Chattanooga (Tenn.) McCallie defensive end Giovanni Hightower approached WKU's satellite camp with the hope of earning his fifth scholarship offer. spent a few minutes.
The four-hour roundtrip from his home to the camp held in Gallatin, Tenn., turned out to be worth the effort. Following a strong outing, the 6-foot-6, 240-pound Hightower spent a few minutes visiting with members of the coaching staff and was extended a WKU offer.
"I went to their camp where they offered right after we were done," he told WKUInsider.com. "I was very excited and honored at the same time."
Being recruited for his abilities on both sides of the ball, also lining up at tight end, Hightower also holds offers from Austin Peay, Mercer and Stephen F. Austin. Others including multiple Conference USA programs are expressing an interest.
Hightower, who also stars for his school's basketball team, reports that the WKU staff "love me at defensive end."
The rising senior has no timetable for an eventual commitment, but is looking for the best fit and opportunity.
"No favorite schools at this point," he said. "I'm not sure when it will be when I commit. I have to take my time with this process. I don't care about the name, I care about if I fit."
