A preview of some of the top targets the Western Kentucky University coaching staff will be tracking this July

A preview of the July recruiting period for the Western Kentucky University basketball coaches as the staff hits the road on Wednesday. Here's a look at a few prospects the staff is likely going to be tracking.

It's hit the road for recruiting time for Rick Stansbury and his staff.

The new Western Kentucky University coach said last week that he didn't get to recruiting for the Class of 2017 - and beyond - during April because he was too focused on trying to build a team for next season.

Well, now it's time to think about the future.

Stansbury is expected to start the first of three July evaluation periods at the Nike Peach Jam in Augusta, Ga., tracking recent commitment Mitchell Robinson, who is the No. 12 prospect in the Class of 2017.

The WKU staff is also expected at the adidas Gauntlet Challenge finale in Spartanburg, S.C., and the Under Armour Camp in Charlotte.

The Toppers are also expected to be tracking Galen Alexander, a 2017 wing playing for Rm5 Elite in Augusta, Houston Hoops guard Jay Jay Chandler and several in-state prospects for the '17 class.

In '18, WKU will watch top five prospect Zion Williamson of Spartanburg and in 2019 Charles Bassey of Nike Team Texas is the No. 2 overall prospect and will get a lot of attention, along with D.J. Burns of the Georgia Stars.

WKU Insider will keep you posted on all of the movements during the next month.
