Western Kentucky lands a fourth in-state commitment in the Class of 2017; Lexington Catholic OL Woodford Lankford joins the Toppers

Western Kentucky University football coach Jeff Brohm landed a fourth in-state commitment in the Class of 2017 on Friday when Lexington Catholic offensive lineman Woodford Lankford committed to the Toppers.

Woodford Lankford had six scholarship offers but said the latest from Western Kentucky University was "just too good to pass up," so on Friday the Lexington Catholic High School offensive lineman committed to the Toppers.

The 6-foot-4, 275-pound Lankford said playing close to home was a big factor, while he's also best friends with WKU true freshman Seth Joest, who is a lineman from Woodford County High School.

"It was almost impossible to turn down," Lankford said. "It's a great program, it's in state and close for my family to get down to see me play and my best friend is there. It's just too good for me. I couldn't turn it down."

Lankford is a three-star offensive lineman and is the fourth in-state commitment for the Toppers in the '17 class.

He has other offers from Ball State, Toledo, Bowling Green, Eastern Kentucky and Miami.
