Khalil Newton had a bunch of good scholarship offers on the table.
But the day after he made a visit to Western Kentucky University, the Stone Mountain, Ga., Stephenson wide receiver decided that Bowling Green, Ky., was the place for him to call home for the next four years.
The 6-foot-2, 175-pound Newton made a commitment to Western Kentucky on Sunday night.
Newton is a playmaker for Stephenson and had offers from Kentucky, North Carolina State, Wake Forest, Coastal Carolina, Toledo and several others on the table. He was a standout on the offensive side at WKU's camp on Saturday.
Scout.com national analyst Chad Simmons had this to say in an analysis of Newton's game:
"As a wide receiver, Newton has good size, he has length, and he can high point the football over smaller defensive backs."
