The time to defend is nearly here.
WKU, the defending Conference USA champions, will begin preparations for the 2016 season on Wednesday at Houchens-Smith Stadium.
As has been the case during previous years in the Jeff Brohm era, the first two weeks of camp will be open to the fans.
There are plenty of storylines for fans to watch during the Hilltoppers prep for an important season opener against C-USA rival Rice on September 1. From the key race for starting quarterback to the many new starters on defense, WKU has a lot to focus on before it starts game-planning game one.
While many faces from 2015's record-setting squad, a strong nucleus returns.
Offensively, the loss of Brandon Doughty is notable, but the new starter will have an experienced offense around him. All-American tackle Forrest Lamp highlights an offensive line that is the second-most experienced group in the nation with all five starters returning. Also returning, Biletnikoff candidates Taywan Taylor and Nicholas Norris, as well as Doak Walker candidates Anthony Wales and D'Andre Ferby.
WKU returns just four on defense, but an experienced depth chart and off season additions, including graduate transfers Keith Brown and Nick Dawson will help bolster that side of the line of scrimmage.
Below is the dates that fans can attend a Hilltopper practice.
