It's a short series between Western Kentucky and Florida International on the football field.

But the recent history has been dominated by the Toppers.

Western Kentucky will try to extend its winning streak against the Golden Panthers to four straight games when the two teams clash on Saturday afternoon at Houchens Stadium in Bowling Green.

In 2011, the Toppers won a 10-9 game in Bowling Green before winning a 14-6 decision in 2012. The Jeff Brohm-led Toppers rolled over the Golden Panthers 63-7 last season in Miami.

In the game last season, Western Kentucky rushed for 253 yards and four touchdowns as a team, while Brandon Doughty threw for 224 yards and three more scores. The Toppers allowed just 168 yards of total offense.

Western Kentucky also won two games to start the series in 2002 and '04.

Florida International then won three straight in '05, '09 and '09 with the closet game being 38-35 in '05.

The Toppers are 2-1 in the series at home.
