WKU added its sixth three-star prospect to the 2017 recruiting class over the weekend.
Macon, Ga., Southwest defensive end B.J. Sharpe committed to Western Kentucky while making an unofficial visit on Saturday. Sharpe committed to WKU over reported scholarship offers from Alabama, Kentucky, Mississippi State and others.
What helped make the difference for the Hilltoppers? Consistency, both on the field and with their recruiting efforts.
"They are hardworking," Sharpe told WKU Insider. "They stay in contact with me and they know how to win."
Throughout the recruiting process, the WKU staff has maintained that Sharpe can be an immediate impact performer on The Hill.
"They like everything about me they said I can come in and start as a freshman."
The 6-foot-3, 265-pound Sharpe, who was selected as Top Defensive Lineman at the Valdosta MVP Camp in 2015, describes himself as a "big, physical, strong, aggressive, fast, and fearless" presence along the defensive front. He recorded 77 tackles and six sacks during his senior campaign.
Sharpe is currently working to schedule his official visit with WKU.
