Scout 100 member Josh Anderson signs Letter of Intent with WKU

Josh Anderson has signed with Western Kentucky

The second piece of Western Kentucky's highly-rated recruiting class became official on Monday.

Josh Anderson, a four-star guard out of Madison Prep Academy in Baton Rouge, La., officially became a Hilltopper when he signed his NCAA paperwork.  In doing so, Anderson becomes the highest-rated recruit in recent years.

A member of the Scout 100, Anderson is rated as the No. 12 shooting guard in the nation and No. 50 overall.

WKU head coach Rick Stansbury announced the signing on Monday evening.

"We’re very excited to have Josh join our basketball program and family," Stansbury said. “He’s a talented young man who brings a lot of athleticism offensively and defensively. Besides being a terrific basketball player and athlete, he’s a great young man that comes from a really good family. On top of that, he comes from one of the best high school programs in the state of Louisiana where he’s been well-coached by Jeff Jones. We’re excited to have him and his family be a part of our program.”

Described as "one of the most gifted scorers" in his class by Scout.com, his recruiting analysis describes a athlete that loves to attack and create.

"[He] attacks the rim very well and has a dynamic first step. Once in the lane he is gifted in how he can score with floaters as well as finishing in traffic. He needs to continue to refine his outside shooting, and gain more confidence in the three point shot to keep defenders honest."

As a junior, Anderson guided Madison Prep to its second consecutive state title and third straight title game appearance, by averaging 18.1 points. 5.8 assists and 4.6 rebounds.

Madison Prep head coach Jeff Jones says the Hilltoppers are getting a player that can impact at multiple spots.

“He’s a very versatile player with a large skillset. He can play multiple positions and guard anywhere from the 1 to the 3, and he’s a gym rat.”

Anderson joins three-star guard Taveion Hollingsworth as signed members of the 2017 recruiting class.  Five-star center Mitchell Robinson is also verbally committed to WKU, which class currently ranks among the Scout Top 10 team recruiting rankings.
