Updated look at where WKU is projected to spend bowl season

WKU Insider provides a look at where the Hilltoppers are being projected to spend the post-season

Now receiving votes in the AP Top 25 and winners of five straight games, Western Kentucky's bowl stock continues its upward trajectory.  WKU is currently in first place of the Conference USA East Division, with a potential spot in the C-USA title game and eventual bowl are still to be determined.

The most common destination among the collected projections is the Heart of Dallas Bowl, which is held at the Cotton Bowl on Dec. 27 and is broadcast nationally on ESPN.  Conference USA programs have a 2-1 all-time record in the bowl.

Here's a look at the latest Western Kentucky bowl projections:

CBS Sports: Heart of Dallas vs Army, Dec. 27

The Black Knights are currently 5-5.  WKU holds a 2-0 series advantage against Army.  The Hilltoppers defeated Army 21-17 at West Point in 2013 and then won 52-24 in Bowling Green in Jeff Brohm's first year as head coach.

ESPN (Mark Schlabach): Boca Raton vs Memphis, Dec. 20

The Tigers are currently 6-4 and in fourth place in the AAC West Division.  The two programs have met five times with the series split 2-2-1.  The last meeting was in 1956.

ESPN (Brett McMurphy): Heart of Dallas vs Northwestern, Dec. 27

The Wildcats are currently 5-5 and in third place in the Big Ten West Division. It would be the first meeting between the two programs.

USA Today: Bahamas vs Ohio, Dec. 23

The Bobcats are 7-4 and tied atop the MAC East Division. The two teams have split a pair of meetings, the last in 1941.

SB Nation: Heart of Dallas vs Northwestern, Dec. 27

The Wildcats are currently 5-5 and in third place in the Big Ten West Division. It would be the first meeting between the two programs.

College Football News: Boca Raton vs Central Florida, Dec. 20

UCF is 6-4 overall and is currently in second place in the AAC East Division.  The Knights and Hilltoppers have met four times, most recently in 1994, with each school winning a pair.

Gridiron Now: Hawaii vs. Air Force, Dec. 24

Winners of three straight, Air Force is 7-3 overall and tied for fourth place in the MWC Mountain Division.  WKU has never faced Air Force.

Campus Insiders: New Mexico Bowl vs Wyoming, Dec. 17

Wyoming is 7-3 overall and currently tops the MWC Mountain Division.  It would be the first game between the two programs.

College Sports Madness: Hawaii vs. Air Force, Dec. 24

Winners of three straight, Air Force is 7-3 overall and tied for fourth place in the MWC Mountain Division.  WKU has never faced Air Force.

Sporting News:  Heart of Dallas vs Texas Tech, Dec. 27

After starting 6-0, Baylor has dropped three straight. Tied for fourth in the Big 12 Conference.  WKU has never faced the Bears.

Fox Sports: Heart of Dallas vs. Baylor, Dec. 27

Baylor is currently 6-3 and tied for fourth in the Big 12 Conference.  The two programs have never met.
