Latest bowl projections for Western Kentucky

Here's a look at where national publications are projecting WKU to spend the bowl season

Winners of the Conference USA East Division for a second consecutive season, Western Kentucky will face Louisiana Tech in the league's title game on Saturday in Bowling Green, Ky.

Here's a glace at the current bowl projections for the Hilltoppers:

CBS Sports: Heart of Dallas vs Mississippi State, Dec. 27

Despite a losing a season, Mississippi State (5-7) is going bowling.  Nothing like celebrating near mediocrity.  WKU has never faced the Bulldogs.

ESPN (Mark Schlabach): Boca Raton vs Memphis, Dec. 20

Memphis finished 8-4 and in third place in the AAC West Division.  This will mark the third consecutive bowl season for the Tigers.  WKU has faced Memphis five times with the series even at 2-2-1.  Both teams recorded shutouts in the victories, with the last meeting a 42-0 Tigers victory in 1956.

Memphis finished 8-4 and in third place in the AAC West Division.  This will mark the third consecutive bowl season for the Tigers.  WKU has faced Memphis five times with the series even at 2-2-1.  Both teams recorded shutouts in the victories, with the last meeting a 42-0 Tigers victory in 1956.

SB Nation: Heart of Dallas vs Army, Dec. 27

The Black Knights are 6-5 overall and have its regular season finale versus Navy on Dec. 10 still ahead.  WKU holds a 2-0 series advantage against Army.  The Hilltoppers defeated Army 21-17 at West Point in 2013 and then won 52-24 in Bowling Green in Jeff Brohm's first year as head coach.

College Football News: Boca Raton vs Temple, Dec. 20

Temple is 9-3 overall and will face Navy this Saturday in the AAC Championship game. The Owls received 21 votes in the latest AP Top 25. It would mark the first contest between the two programs.

Gridiron Now: St. Petersburg vs South Florida, Dec. 24

USF finished 10-2 and in second place in the AAC East Division. Ranked No. 24 in the latest AP Top 25, USF has won four straight. Such a meeting would be a rematch of last season's Miami Beach Bowl, a 45-35 Hilltopper win.  USF holds a 4-3 all-time series advantage.

Campus Insiders: New Mexico Bowl vs Wyoming, Dec. 17

Wyoming is 8-4 overall and will face San Diego State in the Mountain West Conference Championship on Saturday.  It would be the first game between the two programs.

College Sports Madness: Hawaii vs. Air Force, Dec. 24

Air Force finished the regular season at 9-3 overall and in fourth place in the MWC Mountain Division. The Falcons received 22 votes in the latest AP Top 25. WKU has never faced Air Force.

Sporting News:  Heart of Dallas vs Houston, Dec. 27

Houston finished the season at 9-3. fourth in the AAC West Division and lost its coach to Texas.  The Cougars picked up 98 votes (26th) in the latest AP Top 25.  The two programs have never met.
