Western Kentucky will meet Louisiana Tech in the Conference USA Championship game on Saturday in Bowling Green. The game is set to kickoff at 12 p.m. EST at L.T. Smith Stadium.
But there's not just a title on the line.
It's a rematch of one of the more exciting games in college football from the regular season. The Bulldogs claimed a 55-52 win over Western Kentucky on Oct. 6 when the two teams combined for 988 total yards.
WKU passed for 340 yards in that contest but allowed 454 yards passing.
"We have improved since then, but we'll see if it's enough," WKU coach Jeff Brohm said. "It will be a good matchup."
The Toppers outscored Louisiana Tech 21-3 in the fourth quarter of the first game to pull close in the end.
Louisiana Tech leads the series 4-2 but both of the losses have come in Bowling Green.
But the first meeting in Bowling Green was way back in 1939 when the Toppers scored a 20-7 victory. Tech won 7-6 in 1940 and 34-0 in 1973 but the teams didn't play again until 2014.
The Toppers were drilled 59-10 in that '14 season but then won 41-38 last season in Bowling Green.
This meeting is for a title.
