Hilltoppers QB commit reacts to Brohm departure, C-USA title

WKU Davis Shanley remains firmly committed to the Hilltoppers

WKU quarterback commit Davis Shanley committed to the Hilltoppers program in August and has remained firm with his decision throughout.

It was his performance at a Western Kentucky satellite camp that spurred the offer and led to hes eventual commitment.  The 6-foot-2, 185-pound prospect from Cumming (Ga.) South Forsyth hoped to play in the high-octane Jeff Brohm offense.  Brohm, of course, is now headed to Purdue, but Shanley remains committed as ever to WKU.

"It's how this game works and it is a part of it," he told WKU Insider.  "I understand his choice and I'm still looking forward to my future with Western Kentucky."

The Hilltoppers 58-44 victory over Louisiana Tech in the Conference USA Championship on Saturday left Shanely even more excited about his future.

"[It was a] high-scoring game and was a very good game, but now the team is carrying a lot of momentum into the bowl game," he said. "They are winning the conference continuously and it shows so much success in the coaching staff and the players."

Back-to-back league titles and double-digit win seasons have lifted the expectations for the Hilltoppers program, which is making its third consecutive bowl appearance.

"It is such a blessing to be apart of a great program," he said.  "Coming in after two previous years of conference championships and wanting to grow the program more."
