Lawrenceville (Ga.) Central Gwinnett running back Josh Samuel committed to Western Kentucky in November and he continues to remain firm with his decision.
Since the conclusion of his senior season, Samuel has remained focused on being ready to contribute when he arrives on The Hill later this year.
"It's going good," he said. "I've just been working out getting ready for the next level which is college football."
The 5-foot-11, 200-pound prospect is rated among the nation's top 100 running backs by Scout.com and is No. 31 in the South region. Proving effective both on the ground and in the passing attack, he rushed for more than 1,000 yards this past fall, while also totaling over 350 receiving yards.
New WKU head coach Mike Sanford has been in contact with Samuel, who reports a nice budding relationship.
"It's been good," he said. "I spoke to him and he is very excited about me, but I won't know how close we really are until I go on my official visit."
Samuel also drew a scholarship offer from Minnesota, as well as interest from Kentucky, Wake Forest and others.
He's scheduled to make his official visit with WKU Jan. 20-22.
