It's not easy trimming a list of schools that list that includes more than a dozen scholarship offers to just five favorites, but that's what Georgia Military College wide receiver Isaac Zico did on Thursday.
Making Zico's final cut are Western Kentucky, West Virginia, Washington State, Purdue and Florida Atlantic.
"It was tough especially telling some schools I was no longer interested," said Zico, who also included fellow Conference USA members Charlotte, Marshall, Southern Miss and UAB among his other offers.
The 6-foot-2, 200-pound receiver drew heavy interest from the prior WKU coaching staff and has seen that increase since Mike Sanford arrived on The Hill. Steve Spurrier, Jr., the Hilltoppers new quarterbacks coach, spent time visiting with Zico on Friday morning.
"I've always been interested in WKU," he said. "The offense is very interesting. It went well they are highly interested."
Originally a product of Villa Rica, Ga., Alexander High School, Zico was selected as a Scout JUCO Top 100 member, checking in at No. 56. He was an junior college All-American selection following his sophomore season at Georgia Military, where he finished among the NJCAA top ten in catches (9th), total yardage (6th), and touchdowns scored (2nd).
He finished his second season with 46 receptions for 948 yards and 14 touchdowns.
