Future Western Kentucky quarterback Davis Shanley met with Steve Spurrier, Jr., his future position coach, recently to get a better understanding of the new direction for Hilltopper football under first-year head coach Mike Sanford.
"It went great," he told WKU Insider. "I got a chance to sit down with Coach Spurrier and really enjoyed talking to him about my future at WKU.
"He said the offense will be very similar and a little bit of Boise State in there. A very up tempo offense trying to make plays."
Shanley, who has been committed to the Hilltoppers since August has also spent time visiting Sanford and is looking forward to forming a strong relationship, beginning with his official visit during the coming weekend.
"He is a very intelligent coach with a great vision of WKU," he said. "He knows a lot about football especially coming from the prestigious school of Notre Dame. I look forward to getting to know him more and building a relationship with him."
In addition to getting to know the new coaching staff, Shanley is also looking forward to discovering more about Bowling Green, the WKU campus and meeting his new Hilltopper teammates.
"I'm hoping to get a comfortable feel for the community and with my new teammates," he said. "I want to get to know the new coaches better and their ideas for the program and where they intend to take the program in the next couple of years."
