Western Kentucky hosted a large group of recruits on The Hill for official visits over the weekend, an event the coaching staff calls #TopperTurnUp, and the result has been a large success.
Bealeton (Va.) Liberty High School tight end Kris Leach committed to head coach Mike Sanford prior to departing from his visit.
"It went really well," he told WKU Insider. "I committed before I left."
The 6-foot-5, 225-pound prospect was among the first to collect a scholarship offer from the new WKU coaching staff.
"I really like the coaching staff there," he said. "They have a lot of energy and I really like those guys a lot and I felt at home."
Leach collected an impressive number of scholarship offers, including from fellow Conference USA foes, but trimmed his list to Ohio, Temple and WKU prior to making his announcement.
"It's a long process and kind of like a business," he said. "This is it though, I'm shutting it down."
