BIO:  Jonesboro, Ga., product Calder Marria committed to WKU earlier this month. The 6-foot-5, 225-pound prospect is rated as a three-star by Scout.com and is among the top 200 at his position nationally and is No. 59 in the South region.

RECRUITMENT:  Marria, who had originally committed to Georgia Southern, told WKU Insider that his final choices came down to WKU and Conference USA rival Middle Tennessee State.  He also drew heavy interest from Miami of Ohio, Mississippi State, Tulane and UAB.

EVALUATION:  Marria has the speed to become a dangerous pass rush end.  Has a great frame that will continue to bulk up, allowing him to quickly become a dominant presence on the college level.

QUOTABLE:  "I wanted to be part of the winning tradition at WKU," Marria said. "It's a program that's on the rise."

BOTTOM LINE:  Mixon is a big body that will continue to the tradition of impressive Hilltopper lineman.  While most rookie linemen often redshirt, Mixon has a chance to play early.
