Three-star wide receiver Mike O'Laughlin is one of the top prospects in Illinois and has a scholarship offer sheet that provides evidence of such.
Eight different programs, including most recently Western Kentucky, have extended an offer to the 6-foot-5, 205-pound prospect.
The Hilltoppers interest grew following head coach Mike Sanford's participation at a clinic held at Oak Park (Ill.) Fenwick, O'Laughlin's school.
"I'm very excited to have received the offer because I had the chance to meet coach Sanford at our school for a football clinic and I really enjoyed talking with him," he said. "He is a great young energetic guy who has had a great history of winning."
In addition to WKU, O'Laughlin also holds offers from Central Michigan, Cincinnati, Miami (Oh.), Western Michigan, Wyoming and others. Additional programs throughout the region have also expressed an interest.
"I've been happy with my recruiting so far, all the schools that have offered I feel really do have interest in me and plan to utilize me," he said. "I'm in the works of trying to get out to all of the schools I can in hope to find a great fit for me. I've also been in contact with many Big 10 schools that feel strongly about me and want me to visit."
As a junior, O'Laughlin totaled 54 receptions for 939 yards and eight touchdowns. His play garnered a number of post-season honors including first team All-State.
