Wilmette (Ill.) Loyola Academy offensive lineman Charlie Gross is among the midwest's top prospects at his position and on Wednesday added a scholarship offer from Western Kentucky to his growing list.
The Hilltoppers program joins a group that consists of Ball State, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Miami (Oh.), Northern Illinois and Toledo. A number of additional programs throughout the region, including Illinois, Indiana and Purdue are keeping tabs on the 6-foot-5, 265-pound target.
The WKU staff recently reviewed Gross' video and immediately reached out to the Scout.com three-star prospect.
"I was pretty surprised by the offer because we hadn't really been in contact," he said. "I don't know too much but the coaches seem really nice."
Rated among the nation's top 100 tackles, Gross checks in at No. 18 in the Midwest Region and No. 5 in Illinois.
"They said they really like how athletic I am and my technique and strength," he said.
