The Western Kentucky coaching staff welcomed a few prospects to campus for the program's spring game on Saturday and North Fort Myers, Fla., wide receiver Joseph Wilkins Jr. was among the group.
The three-star prospect picked up the WKU offer in March and has remained in contact since. He made the trip to Bowling Green over the weekend where he learned that the staff's interest in him remains very high.
"It was awesome really enjoyed myself," he told WKU Insider. "Coach Sanford took me around campus and I saw the weight room and got to meet all the coaches."
A star on both sides of the ball, Wilkins is being recruited to play either receiver or in the secondary.
"Coach Sanford said he really wants me here and says I could be a big asset to the team," he said. "Coach White also said he really wants me in his secondary."
In addition to WKU, Wilkins also holds scholarship offers from Arizona, Central Michigan, Iowa State, Maryland, NC State, South Carolina, Southern Miss and others.
"I'm really enjoying it," he said of the recruiting attention. "Getting a lot of love, but no favorites as of right now. I want to visit schools before I rank them."
Wilkins anticipates making addition visits during the coming months but has "no set dates."
He's rated among the top 200 at his position nationally, checking in at No. 170. He's No. 30 in Sunshine State.
