Hoffman Estates, Ill., athlete Jaylan Alexander recently picked up a scholarship offer from Western Kentucky and now hopes to visit the Hilltopper program.
To go along with his WKU offer, the 6-foot-2, 210-pound prospect, who plays both wide receiver and linebacker, also holds Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Northern Illinois and others.
"It was really exciting to get an offer from them," he said of his WKU offer. "They're a great program and I've heard they have really nice campus."
The increased interest from the WKU staff has Alexander planning a trip to The Hill in the near future. Additionally, the opportunity to play on the offensive side of the ball has helped the Hilltopper program grab his attention.
"I'll be taking a visit down there in the summer so it'll be fun to see the campus and meet the coaching staff," he told WKU Insider. "Also, what was exciting about the offer was it was my first offer I got as an athlete. My other offers are for Linebacker . Me personally I like offense better."
WKU's on-the-field success, which includes consecutive Conference USA titles also has Alexander's interest.
"I know that WKU went 23-5 in the last two seasons and won back-to-back conference championships," he said. "That right there shows you that this program is the real deal."
With a list of scholarship offers certain to climb, WKU will receive heavy consideration when Alexander begins thinking of his future commitment.
"They are a top school in my list right now."
As a junior, Alexander hauled in 58 receptions for 795 yards and seven touchdowns.
