WKU has extended a scholarship to Columbia, SC quarterback Trad Beatty

Western Kentucky has targeted a quarterback that it would like to add to its 2018 recruiting class by extending a scholarship offer to Columbia (S.C.) Ben Lippen's Trad Beatty.

The 6-foot-5, 210-pound signal-caller added the Hilltoppers offer on Monday to a list that also includes Mississippi State and Brown.  He's also drawing interest from a host of ACC programs, including Duke, NC State, North Carolina and Virginia Tech.

"I'm super pumped about the offer," he told WKU Insider, adding that he hopes to make the trip to Bowling Green soon.  "I'm very excited to get up on campus soon and continue this process."

He's primary recruiter at WKU is assistant head coach/quarterbacks coach Steve Spurrier, Jr..

"Coach Spurrier is recruiting me," he said.  "We've started to build a great relationship and I look forward to continue building it."

A dual-threat quarterback, Beatty completed 124-of-193 passes for 17 touchdowns and rushed for 682 yards and four more scores as a junior.  His play earned him All-State and All-Region honors.
