Western Kentucky joined the mix for Canton (Oh.) McKinley linebacker Josh Chandler by extending a scholarship offer to the 5-foot-11, 210-pound prospect.
"The offer means a lot," he told WKU Insider. "I'm very blessed to get noticed by a very good and consistent team in the C-USA."
Hilltoppers assistant Geoff Dartt visited with Chandler at school on Monday to give him the news of the WKU's rising interest in him.
"It was the first time that I met him," he said. "He said that he liked how I was fast, physical and aggressive."
In addition to WKU, Chandler also holds offers from Akron, Eastern Michigan, Kent State, Marshall, Miami of Ohio and Western Michigan. Boston College, Kentucky, Maryland, Pittsburgh, Purdue and Syracuse are among the many others that have checked in on him.
While nothing has been scheduled at this point, Chandler does anticipate visiting Western Kentucky in the near future.
"Not a specific date, but I'm gonna try to get down there soon," he said.
Chandler currently claims no favorites.
"At this point I'm just soaking everything in right now."
Playing in six games last fall, Chandler recorded 80 tackles, including 12 for a loss and an interception. Also spending some time at running back, he had 290 yards and seven touchdowns on 32 carries.
