A week after making an official visit with the school, Bel Aire (Kan.) Sunrise Christian Academy forward Marek Nelson has committed to Western Kentucky.
The 6-foot-7, 190-pound prospect announced his decision via Twitter on Saturday afternoon.
Nelson spoke with WKU Insider following his official visit and discussed how impressed he was with the Hilltopper program, head coach Rick Stansbury and the growing.
"I enjoyed visiting with coach Stansbury and learning about the program and get a better understanding of what it would be like. Everyone there was very nice and I had a great time while there. It was a very nice opportunity for me.
"(Coach Stansbury) see's me filling a hole that they currently have. He wants me to come in and have an impact on the direction of the program. He told me all about the tradition there and what the culture is like and how he's working to put them on the same playing field as Kentucky and Louisville in what is a big basketball state.
"It was a beautiful campus. I liked how everything is really close together and what they have to offer."
Nelson joins the Hilltoppers higly-rated 2017 recruiting class, which is now six players deep.
