Today, WKU had its first scrimmage of fall camp. For the first time in a long while, temperatures were under 100 degrees. (Video Clips)

The scrimmage started with the offense executing a 75-yard scoring drive. Head Coach David Elson described the opening drive as a "thing of beauty." The two hour scrimage consisted of aproximately 95 plays. Scrimmage stats that the offensive coaches will take a hard look at are, if the running game averaged 4 yards per carry, passing game averaged 7.5 yards per completion, scoring in the red zone, and ball security.

The defensive coaches want to see proper alignment, solid tackling, three and outs, turnovers, and of course stopping the offense from scoring.

Offensively, QB David Wolke, RB Bobby Rainey, WR Jessie Quinn, and WR Ronnie Letcher, all had a good scrimmage.

LB Andre Lewis had a very good scrimmage along with LB Dusty Bear, LB L.J. Harbison and DL Robert Dark.

Overall, it was a good first scrimmage for the Hilltoppers. Coaches will make very good use of the scrimmage film. Sunday will be a light day for the team. But Monday, the team will be back on the practice field.

The Hilltoppers are now fourteen days from opening their season against the Florida Gators.
