In all honesty, Indiana State should provide a dynamic opportunity to get back on the winning side of the scoreboard Saturday. The Sycamores are winless this season and let their head coach go after the season was well under way. Simply put, ISU does not match up well with the Hilltoppers. Head Coach David Elson has preached to his players all week about not looking at Indiana State's record and situation. "They have pride and will fight hard to get their season going back in the right direction."
This college football season has been surprising to say the least. Upsets are the norm and the ole saying that anyone can beat anyone on any given Saturday has proven true this season more than any in recent memory. Coach Elson has used the upsets this season to give the players examples of what will happen if they show and expect ISU to lie down without a fight.
With WKU being a familiar opponent I expect Indiana State to be sky high and have confidence early but if the Hilltoppers play like they are capable of playing, should win this game handily.
On the injury front SR #53 Dusty Bear will not play this Saturday. He is recovering from an ankle injury suffered against Ball State last Saturday. Bear is in a boot this week but says he is hoping to be out of it by next week and back on the field soon. I spoke with Bear at practice and he wanted to thank all the fans for their support and prayers. SR #10 Marion Rumph is still not ready for action because of an ankle injury suffered against Middle Tennessee. Rumph is hopeful to be back in action soon as well. It is a definite boost to have SO #9 Rashad Etheridge back in action on the defensive side of the ball. Etheridge plays with a lot of confidence and is a playmaker in the secondary.
