Broncos Split Double Header

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (May 3) — All-American Kelly Hunt stroked a three-run homer in the fifth inning to lead Bowling Green to a 4-2 victory over Western Michigan in the first game of a Mid-American Conference doubleheader held at Warren Steller Field.

Hunt's round tripper off Pat Misch scored David Barkholz (triple) and Jimmy Lipari (single) to seal a come-from-behind victory for the Falcons.

The Broncos opened a 2-0 lead on Tom Fabrizio's RBI single in the first and Steve Horn's sacrifice fly in the second. WMU was held off the board the rest of the game as BG starter Keith Laughlin struckout nine batters before Neil Schmitz entered in the seventh and notched his fourth save.

Misch went the distance in just his second start in a month, finishing with six strikeouts. Freshman LF Matt Bolton led WMU offensively with three hits.

NOTES: Misch's complete game was WMU's 11th of the season ... Laughlin's nine Ks tied his career high ... the contest was scheduled for seven innings.
