Kashama Continuing Tradition

The Broncos found yet another big, fast wide receiver for the future – this time all the way from Brampton, Ontario. Fernand Kashama has already enrolled at Western Michigan University and is preparing for spring ball. We spoke with him for the latest.

What are the schools you considered before making your decision?
I considered Boise State, Rutgers, Marshall some and Western Michigan.

What were the factors in picking Western Michigan?
The facilities really caught my attention and the campus is very nice. I really liked the indoor stadium and look forward to playing in there this spring. I think it also came down to distance from home. Boise State was just too far and so was Rutgers. Western Michigan is only about five or five and a half hours from home.

How long after your visit did you make your decision?
I visited the weekend of December 12th and then committed to Coach Rock on the 28th.

Who was your host on your visit?
Tyrone Walker

What do you plan to major in?
Computer Science.

What are you currently for height, weight and 40?
I'm 6-3 and weigh about 206. My best in the 40 was a 4.49.

Any stats from your senior year you can share?
I had 30 receptions for 700 yards and eight touchdowns.

Any other sports you participated in while in high school?
I played power forward on the basketball team.

Your brothers play division I football as well correct?
Yes I have a brother at Michigan and also one at Connecticut and they both play defensive end.

What are your specific goals for this spring?
I'd like to play this year but that will be determined on my spring performance so my goal is to go into the spring and really do well. I'm confident in my ability but I won't know until I get a feel for things when we start in the spring.
