Paul Moersch Q&A

Following a productive summer of workouts, junior nose guard Paul Moersch reported to fall training camp with over 100 of his closest friends. Read on to find out what he thinks of the Bronco's chances in the MAC this year, and what he thinks of J.C. Harper's move to defensive coordinator.

How do you feel workouts went over the summer?

This is my third summer here and this summer had the best turnout since I've been here. The guys have been really working hard on both offense and defense. I was really impressed because it was better then in past years and I really think that's where your team comes from is in the summer.

What are your personal goals for the season?

Win games; that's pretty much it. I want a winning season, I want to win the MAC and get a bowl birth. Those are the goals we have every year.

What is this team realistically capable of after 3 losing seasons?

We have an experienced team back and realistically we have some tough games but we have the team to go over to places and beat BCS teams and even our conference is really tough this year. I see us having a winning season and being successful.

How do you replace Jason Babin?

It's going to be tough to replace a guy like Babin, who was a first round draft pick, but we have guys that have been here for years and Jack Gitler, Nick Melcher and Ernest Osborne and those guys have a lot of experience and they're veterans. It's going to be tough to replace a guy like Babin, but those guys will do a great job and step right in.

Who do you think the likely starters are on the defensive line?

It's real tough to say. We have a real good and deep group. I couldn't tell you, that's up to coach Harper and coach Darnell. We have two at each position that could play on Saturdays.

How do you feel about the move of coach Harper to defensive coordinator?

We love it; coach Harper is a great coach. He knows his stuff; he's been around college football for years. During spring ball it was excellent. He brings a little more energy and a little more tenacity to the whole defense.

Bench weight? 40 time?

40 time, I was running probably 5.1 and I've been benching about 420.

What's your major?

Secondary education.
