Is it exciting for you having moved up to first team center this past spring?
It's very exciting, I'm very glad they [the coaches] gave me the shot at being the first string center. I'm just real excited to play this year.
What was your focus during workouts this summer?
My focus was just to out work everybody else. That's the best you can do and that's pretty much what I did. I was in there lifting everyday and running and doing whatever the strength coach [Bob Vezeau] told me what I would get better with and that's what I did.
Bench weight? 40 time?
My best was about 400 and my 40 time was about 5.2, but that was with the winter training I didn't run one this spring.
Is it good to among the veteran players now?
It's awesome. I'm looking at the rookies and they're looking so nervous; I'm not nervous this year, I know everybody. It's some much better; I'm having a better time then when I started off. I was miserable when I first started, I didn't know anything, now I'm having a great time doing this.
The coaching staff has made a point of balancing the run with the pass this season as opposed to last season. How does the offensive line fit into that goal?
I think we fit in big time. We have some new bodies on the offensive line; we have some bigger meat in there. I think our run is going to be a lot better this year then it was in previous years. Our pass is only going to get even better, we have Greg Jennings who is doing wonderful and Tyrone Walker is just so fast you don't even see him sometimes. We're definitely going to good with Trovon Riley running the ball up the middle and the offensive line is hungrier and we're meaner then last year. We're not going to take any crap this year.
What are your personal goals for this fall?
I just want to be the best I can be. Maybe get some awards, maybe All-MAC as a redshirt freshman that would be spectacular, but I'm more worried about our team then I am individually.
Where do you see the team finishing this season?
I would like us to win. I hope that we're going to do the best we can to win a title, but if not I want to be one of the MAC teams that are feared by the Big 10 and Big 12 and they don't want to play us because they know what we can do. That's something I want this team to be known for.
