Western Michigan University Broncos take on the Tennessee Tech University Golden Eagles at Averitt Express Baseball Complex in Cookeville, Tennessee. Tennessee Tech is the defending Ohio Valley Conference Champions. They are lead by senior catcher Mike Meihls. Mike was named the 2001 OVC Tournament MVP.

Common opponents between the Golden Eagles and the Broncos include: Akron (TTU swept the 3 game series), Indiana/Purdue-Ft. Wayne (TTU played a 4 game series and going 2-3 with weather canceling the 2nd game), Bowling Green (BGSU won the only game), and Kentucky (their game was cancelled, while the Broncos split the 2 game series).
