All-CCHA Honorable Mention

Two members of the Western Michigan University hockey team have been honored by the Central Collegiate Hockey Association. Junior RW Dana Lattery (Cochrane, Alta.) and junior D Dave Cousineau (Waterloo, Ont.) both received All-CCHA Honorable Mention, the league office announced Wednesday.

Lattery leads the Broncos in goals (19) and points (34), and among CCHA players ranks sixth in power play goals (7), seventh in goals and 14th in scoring. The 6-foot, 220-pound team captain recorded points in 20 of 30 games this year, including a three-goal effort against Miami Jan. 18 in Lawson Arena. Lattery was named No. 1 Star of the Game on four occasions as the top Bronco point producer in the Perani Cup standings.

Cousineau, who yesterday was named to the CCHA All-Academic Team, paces the team in shots (99) and shares top honors in assists (17). He leads active Broncos with 143 games played and is a point shy of 100 for his career. The assistant captain will likely surpass 100 shots in a season for the third time this weekend. Cousineau received CCHA Honorable Mention last year.

"All the guys chosen on the first and second teams were worthy recipients," said WMU Head Coach Jim Culhane. "It's nice to have Dana and Dave recognized as honorable mention in the same class as those players."

Western Michigan (15-19-2 overall, No. 8 seed) travels to Northern Michigan this weekend (March 14-16) for CCHA First Round action. The best-of-three game series will take place at the Berry Events Center in Marquette.
