Sophomore Sensation Names Badgers

Travis Beckum should be one of the most sought after prospects in 2004. The sophomore from Oak Creek is already on the wish list of college coaches from every corner of the country.

Oak Creek (Wis.) High School will have two highly recruited prospects in 2003 with defensive end, Rhyan Anderson and defensive back, John West.

While evaluating film of Anderson and West, I couldn't help notice a tall, athletic safety, wide receiver wearing #19. His name is Travis Beckum and he should be one of the top junior prospects in the Midwest this up coming season.

Beckum reminds me a lot of University of Michigan freshman, Ryan Mundy. Travis made plays all over the field and he has all the physical tools to play at the highest level of college football.

"Travis should be the #1 player in the state next year," said Oak Creek Head Coach, Joe Koch.

"There are a lot of schools sending him mail right now. Travis should be as highly recruited as anyone I've had here at Oak Creek."

Beckum says he doesn't have any offers yet but he does have some favorites.

"I like Miami, Wisconsin, Florida State, Penn State, UCLA and Georgia." Beckum said.

"I'm getting a lot of mail. I know its early and things can change but out of all the schools that are sending me letters, these are the schools that I like the most."

Beckum had four interceptions as a sophomore. Travis says he's unsure of which camps he'll attend this summer. He also letters in basketball.
