Brown Racking Up New Offers

One of the many players coming to Wisconsin's camp in search of a scholarship offer later this month, Indianapolis Central safety Kevin Brown talks about his latest scholarship offers.

MADISON - The spring evaluation period is over and done with, and few players in the Midwest grabbed more scholarship offers than Kevin Brown.

A 6-foot-1 safety, Brown totaled 65 tackles, four forced fumbles and a fumble recovery as a junior for Indianapolis Lawrence Central, but his offer list sat at just Bowling Green, Central Michigan and Western Michigan.

Once his film started circulating around to schools and coaches started to visit, Brown's list has shot up, as he grabbed offers from Air Force, Army, Ball State, Eastern Michigan, Miami (OH), Temple, Toledo and Western Kentucky during the month of May.

Brown talked to Badger Nation over the weekend about some of his offers.

Air Force – "I've looked at them a little bit, and they've been having a lot of success. They aren't a BCS school, but they've finished a lot of ball games. They have real good academics, too. I probably have talked to them the most of my offers. I have a good relationship with the coaches."

Miami – "I've talked to Coach Charlie Fischer, the new quarterbacks coach. He says it's a really good school that provides good academics. They've won a bunch of MAC championships, have a good winning record and have sent players to the NFL. They've been going uphill the last couple of years, and they think I can contribute to that."

Temple – "The offer came out of nowhere really, and I haven't really talked to them a lot. They didn't really have much to say, but were straightforward and said that I could come there and have an immediate impact on their program."

Western Kentucky – "They play some pretty good competition in the Sun Belt conference. I am excited about that offer, and to learn more about them."

In addition to his offers, Brown has seen increased interest from Big Ten schools Indiana, Northwestern, Purdue and Wisconsin. Having attended the Badgers spring game in April, Brown has received in-school visits from linebackers coach Dave Huxtable and will be camping at Wisconsin later this month.

"We've had a couple good conversations, one of those relaxed, sincere talks," Brown said. "It's really nice, and they're really excited to have me up at the second camp."

Brown attended Missouri's camp this past weekend, will attend Indiana's 7-on-7 camp, Purdue's camp and possibly the Chicagoland Showcase camp.
