No.8 Wisconsin got a dominate first-half performance by Wilson and a dominate second-half performance by Ball, as the two combined with the Badgers' defense to pitch a 35-0 shutout over Oregon State Saturday at Camp Randall.
Wilson went 17 for 21 with 189 passing yards and three first-half touchdown passes for Wisconsin (2-0), two of which found its way into the hands of redshirt sophomore Jacob Pedersen, moving UW's offense with ease despite Oregon State (0-2) stuffing the run game. Once the Beavers were worn down, Ball took over, rushing for two second-half touchdowns and finishing with 118 yards on 18 carries, a staggering 6.6 yards per carry average.
Overall, Wisconsin's offense gained 397 yards of total offense, 20 first downs and went 8 of 15 on third downs.
Without leading rusher Malcolm Agnew, Oregon State couldn't manage any yards on the ground. Of the Beavers' 279 total yards, only 23 came on the ground, as Wisconsin registered its first shutout since October 2009 against Purdue.

Jacob Pedersen 17-yard pass from Russell Wilson (Kyle French kick)
Key Play: Wisconsin's defense did its job against Oregon State, forcing a three-and-out thanks to another pass breakup by Antonio Fenelus, and were given a big gift when Oregon State punter Johnny Hekker shanks a punt for minus-4 yards, giving UW great field position.

Nick Toon 10-yard pass from Wilson (French kick)
Key Play: Wisconsin has rushed for only 15 yards, but Wilson is picking apart Oregon State's young defense. Wilson completed two third-and-5s and went 4-for-5 on the drive, the only incompletion being a pass out of bounds.

Montee Ball 19-yard run (French kick)
Key Play: After being limited in the first half, Wisconsin's running game has started to break out. After White broke free for 12, Ball broke a run to the outside and crossed the goal line with relative ease.

Ball 1-yard run(French kick)
Key Play: With Oregon State needing to gamble, the Beavers' attempt with a pitch on fourth-and-1 went nowhere thanks to Aaron Henry. Coming up in run support, Henry's pressure forced Brandin Cooks to avoid the senior, allowing support to arrive and a turnover on downs at the 44. How ironic that when UW faced a fourth-and-1, Ball cut a run outside for a 25-yard gain down to the 9?
