Wisconsin and California were the two schools in the running for Algonquin (IL) Jacobs small forward Eric Vierneisel. He recently visited Wisconsin, but it was California that made the greatest impression in the end.
"He made his decision today," Vierneisel's father told TheInsidersHoops.com. "He called Coach Braun and he's going to be a California Golden Bear.
Vierneisel has played well for Larry Butler's Illinois Warriors this spring and summer. He's got a nice touch from the outside and approaches the game very seriously.
According to his father, weather was a factor in the decision and Eric preferred the California climate.
"It was starting to wear on him because they were really coming at him hot and heavy in the last month or two. He's real comfortable there and he knows that it's the place for him. Now, he can just go play and enjoy his senior year."
Don't be surprised if you see a rash of commitments prior to the start of the July period. Traditionally, there's has been a run of commitments at this time of the year as prospects seek to cement their relationships with the schools of their choice.
