Midwest LB Names Wisconsin

John Belskis has one of the top prep football programs in the Midwest. He sent two prospects to Illinois last year and in 2003 Belskis will send a linebacker to the D-1 ranks. Meet Sam Carson.

"I have scholarship offers from Illinois, Northern Illinois, Indiana and Louisville," said linebacker Sam Carson.

"Those schools would be my favorites right now. I'm also looking at Stanford, Notre Dame and Wisconsin.

"I don't have a leader. I want to take some visits after the season before making a decision."

Carson, a 6-foot-2, 230-pounder, from Downers Grove (Ill.) South will be a three-year varsity starter in 2003.

Sam was named all-state as a junior, finishing the 2002 season with 117 tackles (65 solo) and six sacks. Carson was named all-state by several Chicagoland area media outlets as well as being a first team all-state selection by the Illinois High School Coaches Association.

Sam Carson is a two-sport athlete, lettering in basketball. He scored 1020 on his SAT.
