"It went really well," Smith told Badger Nation. "I was able to meet with the wide receivers coach (Zach Azzanni) and he was very excited that I was there. It wasn't the first time they had me up there, but one thing in comparison to the other schools I have visited are the strong traditions and fan base along with the welcoming of the coaching staff and recruiting staff."
Offered as a preferred walk-on following his unofficial visit to the Minnesota game, Azzanni and Smith got some quality time together this past weekend and got to find out more about his possible future with the Badgers.
"He had said the he really liked my highlights and that I could have a big impact there in the future," Smith said. "I don't have any other offers, but I am getting interest from Minnesota, Northern Illinois and Colorado State."
Smith said he hasn't completely shut the door on possibly getting an full scholarship offer from Wisconsin. Either way, a few of his friends know who they wish he would play for.
"I'm excited about the opportunity," said Smith. "I'm definitely willing to put in the work to get a scholarship. (UW commit) Alec James has been my best friend since middle school and we go to school together. He really wants me to come there and so does Chikwe Obasih."
At the end of day, Smith knows how great it would be to a part of a storied program like Wisconsin. His visit just reflected that notion.
"I'm very excited you know that being my home state school," Smith said. "I've always been a huge Badgers fan. This visit put Wisconsin very high. They are definitely in the mix as one of my top options."
