Badgers Looking at Florida Receiver

Since de-committing from Wake Forest early in the summer, Cypress Bay (Fla.) senior receiver Alex Montgomery has starting looking around at other options, including learning some more about Wisconsin.

MADISON - Still in the market for some playmakers in its 2013 recruiting class on the offense side of the ball, Wisconsin might have found one with Cypress Bay (FL.) senior wide receiver Alex Montgomery.

At 6-2 and 205 pounds, Montgomery committed to Wake Forest at the end of June, but has reopened the door heading into the final weeks of his season.

"My recruiting is going good," Montgomery told Badger Nation. "I am not committed anymore to Wake Forest, but I am interested in them. I am looking at everybody again."

In addition to Wake Forest, Montgomery holds BCS offers from Duke, Kentucky, Louisville, North Carolina State, Ole Miss and Rutgers. He also has been starting to get recruited by Wisconsin receivers coach Zach Azzanni, which has sparked an interest in the Badgers program.

"I really don't know a lot about them, but I have been talking to (Azzanni) and he's just been saying keep it up," said Montgomery. "I might go up on an official visit. I do know that they run the ball a lot, but they also run a lot of play action and Cypress Bay runs a lot of play action, too."

Two reasons you don't see a lot of southern prospects decide to go up north is because of the distance factor and how the weather is, but Montgomery thinks otherwise.

"I don't mind the weather at all, I just want to play," Montgomery said. "Distance also doesn't matter to me either."

What would an offer from the Badgers mean to Montgomery and what would he bring to Wisconsin if he got the opportunity to play for them?

"That's a big time offer," Montgomery said. "It would feel great because most big time schools feel I'm a better safety. Wisconsin doesn't think that and Wisconsin wants me to play wide receiver for them. My physical ability and body size is what I would bring."
