McCaffrey Likes Running Back U

Although he has 18 offers from coast to coast, Highlands Ranch (CO) Valor Christian junior running back Christian McCaffrey has interest in seeing Wisconsin and the school's running back tradition.

Colorado hasn't been a productive recruiting area for Wisconsin, but the Badgers' new coaching staff – and their West Coast ties – haven't let history hinder their pursuits.

The latest star to be offered by Wisconsin is Highlands Ranch (CO) Valor Christian junior running back Christian McCaffrey, who has seen his stock skyrocket after winning the state championship and piling up 2,500 yards and 42 touchdowns. Recruiting is no longer on the back burner and his Wisconsin offer was certainly an exciting one.

"I have been talking to Coach Chad (Kauha'aha'a) on Facebook and he told me to call and I talked to Coach Andersen and Coach Hammock on the phone and that is when I got offered," McCaffrey told Badger Nation. "It was really cool. They are awesome. I really enjoyed talking to them and I'm excited to continue talking to them. I definitely like the coaches at Wisconsin and the fact that it is a running back university. They have a history of success, which is just awesome."

The 6-0, 193-pound McCaffrey - currently is the No. 13 running back in the country by and a four-star recruit – has picked up over 18 offers, including Arizona State, Boise State, Iowa, Michigan, Nebraska, Oregon, Stanford, Utah and Washington.

With many schools on his radar, McCaffrey plans to visit Washington, Oregon, Stanford and UCLA over his spring break. He also plans on visiting the Badgers.

"I will definitely visit Wisconsin," said McCaffrey. "I'm just really lucky that a school like Wisconsin is interested enough to offer. I'm real excited to continue this recruiting process with the University of Wisconsin and I'm honored they offered."

The son of former NFL veteran Ed McCaffrey, and younger brother of Duke freshman Max McCaffrey, Christian is excited to bring his style of play into college.

"I would say I am a three-down running back who likes to get to the outside and use his quickness and speed," said McCaffrey, "but I can also run between tackles."
