Georgia WR Loves Wisconsin

The University of Wisconsin has been looking to make a dent in Georgia for the last three recruiting cycles to no avail. Dawsonville (GA) Atlanta Sports Academy wide receiver Jaron Locke might change that.

Dawsonville (GA) Atlanta Sports Academy junior wide receiver Jaron Locke is not a known star, which is just fine for a school like Wisconsin which prides itself on finding those hidden gems and turning them into productive players at the next level.

Playing receiver and cornerback his junior season, Locke knows he is an under-the-radar playmaker, but broke out with a junior season that included 52 catches for 1,152 yards and 11 touchdowns.

The 6-1, 185-pound Locke has not had the recruitment he had hope for, but has seen it getting better as time as gone on.

"I am talking to more and more schools," said Locke to Badger Nation. "I really don't have all my schools that I want to on my radar. Actually, now I am going to a lot of camps."

With an early offer from Central Florida and getting early interest from California, Florida State, Florida International, Penn State and Tulane, Locke is starting to come up with a summer plan to boost his offer list. Those plans might include a trip to Wisconsin, a school Locke has admired from afar and would love to hear more about.

"That would just be a complete honor to get an offer from Wisconsin," he said. "I have followed Wisconsin for a long time being a fan, so it would definitely be a real great offer. It would be a great opportunity to have the chance to play at Wisconsin. I know that if I got that offer, then Wisconsin would automatically be one of my top schools."

Although being deep in SEC country, Locke has been drawn to Wisconsin because of how he identified with former Badgers receiver Nick Toon, a fourth round draft pick by New Orleans in 2011.

"I know Nick Toon went there," said Locke. "That is who I base my game off of. Nick Toon was pretty good (and) then go on to the league. I know how aggressive he was as a wide receiver, so that is what I try to do as well. I am a very aggressive type of wide receiver. I can go up and get the ball and get a lot of yards after the catch. I would say me and him a lot alike on the field."

Exposure is key for many of these recruits and Locke understands that as he plans to get to multiple camps around the nation.

"The camps I plan on going to is Michigan, Florida State, Auburn, UAB, Georgia State and Tennessee," he said. "I plan on taking some visits to schools soon and Wisconsin is a possible spot that I could visit in the future."
