"Wisconsin came by today and was talking to my coach to tell me that I have the offer," Williams told Badger Nation. "It put a smile on my face and they are the best of the best. I sent my film to Wisconsin a while ago and heard them say that I am a good ball player, so they can't wait to come down and meet me. I am just happy about the offer and very excited.
"I know they are a very competitive Big Ten team and went to the Rose Bowl three years in a row. They are also a school that competes at the highest level and they have a top 25 education and a great nursing program. That is what I want to major in, so that is big. I know Wisconsin is a football state and football town, so I love to see that atmosphere.
"Wisconsin is one school that is definitely rising to the top in my recruitment and is an offer that I am extremely excited about. I think very highly of Wisconsin."
At 6-1 and 215 pounds, Williams was a tackling machine on defense last year with 105 tackles, nine sacks, nine pass deflections, five interceptions and two touchdowns. Many observed the linebacker as a disruptive force to any offense and a guy who can play sideline to sideline, which Williams feels the same way.
"I'm definitely athletic and have a lot of versatility to my game," he said. "As a linebacker, I can go make plays anywhere on the field and really get after it."
"Everything is going great for me and I am just enjoying the process," said Williams. "Wake Forest is sticking out to me as a team that I like. They jumped on me right away and have stayed on me hard. There is still a long ways to go and I'm always open, so I'm enjoying the recruiting process. I plan on making my decision sometime during the season or after the season. I like to take my five official visits before I decide."
Williams admits that Wisconsin has a great chance of getting one of his officials and he'll start taking campus visits with his coach this summer.
"I am definitely going to go to the North Carolina camp and will be up there for awhile," he said. "I am going to visit Boston College, Rutgers, East Carolina, Wake Forest, South Carolina and try to possibly make it around to more.
"I want to go to a great education program along with a great football program. I want also a coaching staff that is behind you like if you get injured, then they will back you up 100 percent, so the relationship with them as well."
