Indispensable Badger #48

Counting down the days to Wisconsin opens training camp, Badger Nation's new summer feature will rank the 50 most indispensable players of the 2013 Wisconsin football team. Today we reveal No.48.

Corey Clement

Position: Running Back

Experience: True Freshman

2012 Stats: Rushed for 2,323 yards and 33 touchdowns while also recording 47 tackles and eight sacks as a senior ... set New Jersey state record with 479 rushing yards in game vs. Gloucester City ... first-team all-state, first-team All-South Jersey, first-team All-Group 1 and South Jersey Times All-Star team and offensive player of the year as a senior.

Strengths: An instinctive runner with great vision of the field. Clement can also block well in pass protection which will make him a contributor in the years to come.

Weaknesses: The only real obvious weakness for Clement seems to be his breakaway speed and his lack of effectiveness in the open field.

Overall: To say the Badgers are doing alright at the running back position is a giant understatement. Four-star recruit Corey Clement draws similarities to former Wisconsin and current Denver Broncos second-round pick Montee Ball. Clement has great vision and fights for extra yardage in traffic without trying to do too much. Clement will likely have a few reps but behind Melvin Gordon and James White, and have big shoes to fill in the future. Clement will gain valuable experience from Gordon and White, who have had plenty of experience at all levels of play.

Even though he might be third on the depth chart, it might be hard to keep a player of his talent and caliber on the bench.

Up Next: With a lot of talent and speed to match his high ceiling, player No.47 has a chance to make an impact this season on either side of the ball.
