Indispensable Badger #28

Counting down the days to Wisconsin opens training camp, Badger Nation's new summer feature will rank the 50 most indispensable players of the 2013 Wisconsin football team. Today we reveal No.28.

Michael Caputo

Position: Safety

Experience: Redshirt Sophomore

2012 Stats: made Badger debut against Northern Iowa … made first career start at safety against Illinois, recording two tackles ... finished the season with 10 tackles.

Strengths: Caputo is a physical safety that has a true knack for the football. His athleticism and quickness will make it difficult for opposing receivers to make plays against him.

Weaknesses:Although Caputo is quick, he does not have elite speed that most opposing receivers have. He will have trouble keeping up in the open field, but will work on it throughout the season.

Overall: With his experience this past season and two potential starting safeties leaving the program, Caputo will have to jump in and contribute almost instantly for the Badgers' defense. He is a solid safety that the coaching staff will rely on in most games.

Look for Caputo to step in for plenty of reps this season as the coaching staff will need his athleticism and physicality game in and game out.

Up Next: Wisconsin's new 3-4 defense perfectly fits our No.27 player on our list, allowing him the ability to get more repetitions and make more plays on the field.
