Officially Offered

After being told he would earn a Wisconsin scholarship is his report card was in order, Everett (MA) cornerback Lubern Figaro tells Badger Nation he made the grade.

Wisconsin snagged Everett (MA) cornerback Jakarrie Washington last year when they discovered him late in the process. Now Wisconsin and secondary coach Bill Busch is looking to tap into Everett again with senior cornerback Lubern Figaro.

"I have been getting handwritten letters from the coaches and I was hearing from sources (that I had got the offer)," Figaro told Badger Nation. "I was just so happy to get that offer. The last time I talked to Coach Busch, he told me I had a offer from them, but I just need to show them my report card.

"I just got my grades (and) my report card came out with A's and B's."

The 6-1, 180-pound defensive back sits as the No. 57 cornerback in the nation and a three-star recruit by Fox Sports NEXT. The offer from the Badgers puts Wisconsin in his top five along with Boston College, Michigan State, Syracuse and Vanderbilt.

"I do plan on visiting all these schools," he said. "I'm trying to do them this month and next month. I'm looking for a school that can win championships and has great academics. Hopefully, I can make a decision by the time my first game of the season starts."

Figaro finished with 37 tackles, five sacks and three interceptions last season, playing opposite Washington. With having his former teammate at Wisconsin, how big of a deal is that for Figaro?

"That's a big thing because I know someone there and he just tells he loves it up there," said Figaro. "It is very possible that explosive duo we had in the secondary could reunite."

UW already has one safety commitment in the 2014 class from Tampa (FL) Plant Senior safety Austin Hudson.
