Indispensable Badger #27

Counting down the days to Wisconsin opens training camp, Badger Nation's new summer feature will rank the 50 most indispensable players of the 2013 Wisconsin football team. Today we reveal No.27.

Derek Landisch

Position: Linebacker

Experience: Junior

2012 Stats: Played in all 14 games with one start … Finished last season with 28 tackles (15 solos).

Strengths: Landisch has superb block-shedding ability and uses it to his advantage. He has great discipline, which combined with his agility will punish offenses.

Weaknesses: Landisch has few weaknesses with one being his size. His 6-foot, 215-pound frame is short compared to opposing offensive lines.

Overall: With 28 games under his belt, Landisch is exceeding expectations day in and day out. With his ability to fill gaps and effectively read plays, Landisch will get to the ball carrier quickly and be a key contributor in the middle of Wisconsin's defense. Look for Landisch to play a considerable amount this season as he will greatly contribute to the Badgers success on the defensive side of the ball.

Up Next: Our No.26 player improved and got more comfortable in his role as last season progressed, which has raised his expectations entering 2013
